The Pest Club is a soon to be slice-of-life/surrealist comedy comic series.
Deep in the wilderness of Tasmania, a young woman affectionately nicknamed 'Handy' begins her job as an assistant to a women's living quarters. Through her work, she quickly discovers the group is a defunct cult, led by the curt yet charismatic leader, Lucilia Catacata. Finding herself drawn to their alternative lifestyle and unique connections, she decides to stay. All of the characters within the series are based on a kind of fly (green bottle fly, fruit fly, cheese skipper, horsefly). Flies are used as a metaphor for how neurodivergent, queer, disabled, or otherwise odd women/femmes are treated in our society. |
