SUMMARY (MORE SOON)

The Pest Club is a soon to be slice-of-life/surrealist comedy comic series.

Somewhere wild and strange in Tasmania, a young woman affectionately nicknamed 'Handy' begins her job as an assistant to a women's living quarters. Through her work, she quickly discovers the group is a defunct cult, led by the curt yet charismatic leader, Lucilia Catacata. Finding herself drawn to their alternative lifestyle and unique connections, she decides to stay.

BASED ON THE HOUSE FLY - ASSISTANT/HANDYMAN

LIKES: Organising, categorising, alphabetising, building furniture, brain puzzles, collecting vintage office supplies, preparing for storms, helping people, workwear, the feeling of dry hands, tools, the postal system.

DISLIKES: Alcohol, humidity, people who need help but won't accept it, modern/minimalist design, plastic where plastic does not belong, sour food & drink, polyester.

Handy is a strange yet responsible young woman. She finds joy in the mundane: simple and repetitive tasks. She can usually be found tending to yardwork, restocking cupboards, fixing furniture, or just roaming around the club with her clipboard in hand. Both sides of the social world seem to find her odd with her being too weird for the normals and too normal for the weirdos. She tries her best to understand people but can get carried away in her own interpretations. She likes to be close to people and highly values physical intimacy. She wants to be friends with everybody but doesn't quite know how to achieve that.

LUCILIA CATACATA

BASED ON THE GREEN BOTTLE FLY - LEADER OF THE PEST CLUB

LIKES: Her theories, the local library, hearing herself talk, smoking on the deck with Dipou, card games, ponchos, women, coffee flavoured sweets, pamphlets, computer time, rituals and routines, playing the guitar, walks in nature.

DISLIKES: Men, her home country, wine, the government, bright colours, smartphones, dogs, loud people, the sound of laughter, hot weather.

FRIENDS: Dipuo, Handy, Bot, Skipper (Skips), Felicia

ENEMIES: Robber, Billie, Midge, Tabitha

Lucilia is the charismatic yet neurotic leader of the club. She is firm in her conspiricies, believing wholeheartedly in government mind control, aliens, and the paranormal. Her demeanor commands respect but she is not very convincing in her words. She can be spotted either lounging around without a care or obsessing over whatever is on her plate that day. Whenever she gets into something she gets really into it. She can be vague and curt to a fault, leaving others confused or offput. Despite her assumed hatred for humanity she has favourites in the household but tries her best to not let it show. She is not very good at keeping secrets. She will have periods of self-isolation, much to the concern of the others. During these times only Dipuo may see her.

DIPUO "DIO" STAL

BASED ON THE STALK EYED FLY - SPIRITUALIST, LIEUTENANT

LIKES: Painting, guiding others, tarot, beaded jewelry, people watching, scented goodies, the beauty of humanity, preserves, the rainforest, planning, dolls, folk music, silk robes, lounging with Lucilia, red meat, playing the piano, home design, one-on-one time.

DISLIKES: Rudeness, fake fur/hair, synthetic fabrics, needles, bitter food/drink, hot weather.

Dipuo is a peaceful and wise woman. She provides spiritual care and advice to the club and helps them with their problems. She does her very best to bring people together and keep the waters calm. She's not bound purely to her role as spiritualist and can be spotted helping with chores and cooking. She has her fair share of odd habits and involves the others whenever possible: a certain drink each day of the week, music every weekend, red meat every weeknight. Her determination in her beliefs can occasionally add to drama or even create it. She cares for all her friends deeply and loves to see them happy, although, seeing them in trouble certainly doesn't make her unhappy. She is strange in her ways of showing affection and will not hesitate to let you know.

DISLIKES: The meat industry, hunting, dry summers, chemicals, GMOs, altercations with Tabitha
